A Brief History
John Edward Spicer established Spicers Papers Limited in the United Kingdom in 1796. In 1896, Spicers was established in Australia through the acquisition of William Detmold. Seventy-three years later, Spicers set up shop in New Zealand. In 1978, the organization consolidated its position in Australia and New Zealand. Between 1985 and 1991, Spicers Paper acquired seven paper distribution and paper marketing companies in the West Coast. In 1994, all the businesses that Spicers Paper Limited acquired were consolidated as one company under the name Spicers Paper Incorporated. Two years later, Spicers Paper Limited acquired major paper distribution businesses in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
